Exploring Ways of Formative Assessment Tools used on Students ’Academic Achievement in Public Secondary Schools in Kyerwa District-Kagera-Tanzania

The study's objective was to explore ways of formative assessment tools used on students ’academic achievement in public secondary schools in Kyerwa District. The study was guided by two objectives which are, to discover how Teachers ’use Formative Assessment Tools on Students’ Learning and To Assess how teachers’ provide formative assessment feedback to students’. The study's methodology included mixed approach and embedded design was used. All teachers’, students’, academic teachers and all public secondary schools in Kyerwa district, were the target population of the research. It employed probability and nonprobability sampling technique. The total sample was comprised of 155 participants. The questionnaire was self-constructed. The validity of the instrument was determined through experts in education researcher and supervisors and the questionnaire’ reliability was found through split-half method. The correlation coefficient value was 0.7. It was concluded that there were different ways of formative assessment tools, used in enhancing students’ academic achievement. It was recommended that the study be used by teachers to create various appropriate formative assessment tools to improve students' learning and academic achievement.
